We help families and individuals on low income living in our area of benefit with the cost of their electricity, gas and other essential items including school uniforms and school journeys (for children in Year 6).
We recognise that the area we fund can be an expensive place to live with high rents and mortgages, which leaves little money left to pay bills. Hampton Fund may be able to assist with a grant to help with fuel bills (gas and electric), essential household items and school uniform or school journeys. One Fuel Grant per year can be given but if you continue to need this support, you can apply again next year.
In the past year we have awarded over 2,000 grants totalling £1,080,680 to local families, young people moving into their first home, single people, key workers and retired people.
To be eligible you must live in Hampton, Hampton Hill, Hampton Wick, Teddington, Twickenham, Heathfield or Whitton and be on a low income.
Those claiming the following benefits are considered on a low income when we assess eligibility: Universal Credit, ESA, Pension Credit or Earnings with Working Tax Credit/Child Tax Credit. For those not claiming these benefits, we assess eligibility based on the level of disposable income available after housing costs and other key outgoings are taken into account.
These are given once per year and Trustees meet to approve fuel grants every 2 months, in January, March, May, July, September and November. The deadline for the current grant period is Thursday 24 October 2024.
We can only make grant payments to the following suppliers:
To apply for a grant, please complete the application form and have your proof of income and energy supplier documents ready to upload. Your application cannot be processed without these documents. Screenshots, photographs or scanned documents are acceptable.
If you are moving into your first home and are not working, receiving benefits and have savings of less than £600, you must apply to the council for a Local Assistance Scheme grant (LAS). If you are not eligible for the LAS grant, then apply to us.
Children who are in Year 6 at junior school may be part-funded to enable them to participate in the school residential journey arranged before they transfer to secondary school. The parent(s)/carers are expected to pay half the cost of the journey. In cases where PGL covers part of the cost, the charity will top this up so that half of the journey cost is covered. The grants are paid directly to your child’s school and returned to the charity if for whatever reason your child is unable to attend.
This is a contribution towards your child’s first secondary school uniform. If you are eligible you may receive £100 voucher for your local school uniform supplier. If you do apply, you will be asked to upload a copy of the acceptance letter/email from your chosen Secondary School.
Although we strongly advise the use of the online application form, if you are unable to complete your application in this way, please download and print a blank form and complete and send to us by post, together with the relevant documents. Please click on the Print Form button below
